Climbing

SiB has a total of 3 indoor climbing walls and 3 bouldering rooms. From September to May we run beginner courses in indoor climbing almost every week-end. This has helped climbing to become one of the most popular sports among students in Bergen.

  • Fantofthallen has two climbing walls, the highest of which is 10.5 metres, and a bouldering room. With 34 different routes to choose from, the training facilities are excellent for climbers of all levels.
  • Lemkuhlhallen has a 15.5m high climbing wall equipped with a hydraulic tilting mechanism, offering almost endless possibilities for variation and challenges for climbers of all levels. Lemkuhlhallen also has a bouldering room which is especially suitable for recreational climbers.
  • Vektertorget offers a bouldering room where climbers can practice their problem solving skills on both horizontal and vertical walls. Although constructed with the recreational climber in mind, it is suitable for climbers of all levels.

  • Please note that in order to use the climbing walls at our centres a belay certificate (“brattkort”) is mandatory, and so a short safety test must be passed. The cost for this test is NOK 100,-.

    If you have never climbed before or if you need to perfect your belaying skills in order to pass the safety test, we recommend that you sign up for one of our courses.  A 12 hour week-end course for beginners costs NOK 700,-. Click here for an overview of course dates : Klatrekurs

  • PRICES: Members of SiB Sports and Fitness centers pay a reduced fee for climbing and bouldering. The price for climbing and bouldering is NOK 30,- for members, and NOK 50,- for non-members. Equipment such as climbing shoes, harnesses and ropes can be rented for NOK 20,- a piece.
