Moving in
Below you will find some general information about Fantoft. If you have any unanswered questions, you can reach us at Husvert.Fantoft@sib.no, or you can find us in Klubb Fantoft every wednesday from 8 pm - 10 pm.
Firealarm
Fantoft has quite a lot of problems with the firealarms. This is mostly because of cooking in the small kitchens, which can cause more smoke then the detector can handle. If the firealarm goes of, and it is just because of cooking, and not dangerous, do the following:
- Go to the elavator, where you will find a small box.
- Press the red botton for 3 seconds.
- Go back to your room and ventilate.
- Go back to the box and press the green botton for 3 seconds.
If the firealarms goes of again, just repeat it. Unfortunatelym, this system is not there in the C/D building.

The room

Rent
You will recieve a bill in your mailbox with the rent, power and laundry on it. You will recieve it in the beginning of every month, and the deadline to pay it will be the 15th. You can either pay it cash at several banks in town or by online banking. When you pay from an account with a different currency then NOK, you can convert your currency to NOK yourself. If the ammount is too high, it will be substracted from your next bill.

Damage report
If there is anything missing from your room, or anything is broken, you can write a damage report on http://www.sib.no/hostels/damage-report

Tv
It is possible to access TV in your room. You don't have to pay anything to SiB, but you will have to pay NRK-license, which is about 1100 NOK per 6 months. More information about this on

TU
The TU-Office is in the ground floor of the C-building. It is possible to borrow a lot of different things here, like kitchen utilities, DVD's, vaccuum cleaners, tents, fishing roots. They are open from 8 pm - 10 pm.

Keys
Remember that it is really easy to lock yourself out of your room. Therefore it might be good to have your key in a place where it is easy to notice when you go out. If you have lost your key, you have to call Securitas (22 88 14 79). This will cost you 300 NOK.

Internet
To have access to internet in your room, you have to have a username and password from either UiB, NHH, HiB. There is no wireless internett in your room, only vpn. You can have access to wireless internet in the reception and in Klubb Fantoft.
You will find information about how to connect to the internet and install it on your computer in the welcome book you got when you moved in.
If you have any kind of trouble with the internet, you can contact the netwerkgroup, room number D-124.

Termination contract
Remember that there is a 2 months termination period when canceling your contract. Therefore it might be good to remember to cancel your contract 2 months before you move out of Fantoft, so that you don't have to pay an extra 2 months of rent. Reading rooms
There are reading rooms in the A and B block. You can buy a keycard in the reception.
Laundry room
There is a laundry room in the C-block and the G-block. You can open the door with your laundry card, which you got when you moved in. You will also use the same card to pay for the machines. The costs of the laundry will be added to your rent. You will see how much you spend on the bill. If you lost your card, you should go to the reception at the Student Centre and cancel it since it works like a creditcard.
Training
SiB has a trainingcentre here at Fantoft. Here you can buy a semestercard for 870 NOK, which will last for 6 months. You can also use all the other SiB gyms in town.
Parking
If you have a car and would like to use the parkinglot at Fantoft, you will have to buy a parking license. You can buy this at the reception at the Student Centre.
